Now offering Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
Accelerated Resolution Therapy® (ART) is a brief, structured form of psychotherapy designed to help you recover from distressing experiences, emotions, or sensations that may feel “stuck” in your mind or body. Using gentle, guided eye movements and visualization techniques, ART helps the brain reprocess troubling memories in a way that reduces emotional pain while preserving the facts of what happened. Through ART, clients are able to erase negative images associated with memories, resulting in the elimination of corresponding triggers.
During an ART session, you’ll remain fully in control as your therapist guides you through a series of eye
movements—which we believe to be similar to what naturally occurs during dreaming—while you recall a difficult memory or feeling. Through this process, your brain can safely “update” the memory by removing or replacing the corresponding images so that it no longer triggers the same distress, fear, or physical tension. You don’t have to describe your trauma in detail if you prefer not to; many people appreciate this sense of privacy and control.
Most clients describe ART as calm, focused, and surprisingly efficient. Because each session follows a structured protocol, progress can often be seen within one or a few sessions rather than months of therapy. People commonly report significant improvements in symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and other stress-related problems, along with better sleep and a greater sense of peace.
ART is grounded in the science of how memories and emotions are stored in the brain. By helping the mind replace distressing images and sensations with new, positive ones, ART allows healing to occur quickly and safely; so you can move forward without being held back by the past.
Marquita looks forward to supporting you in your healing journey using ART. Sessions can be booked by first scheduling a free consultation appointment using this link. ART sessions are delivered in person in Bangor, Maine.

What is counseling?
Counseling, also known as psychotherapy, is a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals. Counselors work with clients on strategies to overcome obstacles and personal challenges they are facing. Professional Counselors are equipped to diagnose and treat mental and behavioral health disorders. The field of counseling, unlike coaching, is regulated by state boards and in most states, a professional license is needed to practice. Marquita is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in both Colorado and Georgia and a National Certified Counselor (NCC.) Marquita is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida and a South Carolina Approved Telehealth Counselor.
She’s worked in a variety of settings to include a college counseling center, outpatient work at community mental health centers, residential, an eating disorder hospital and private practice settings. She currently practices telehealth which involves the practice of caring for clients remotely via a HIPAA compliant platform.
She’s skilled at treating adolescents and adults and specializes in the First Time Therapy Experience as well as supporting individuals who’ve previously had a failed attempt at therapy. Common issues treated include depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship conflict, parenting and career performance. She has experience working with military families and individuals adjusting to major or minor life transitions.
If you desire counseling via an online platform, Marquita invites you to click the link below to schedule a complimentary 20-minute consultation.

Why counseling?
We all go through trials in life and everyone experiences anxiety or sadness on some level. If you feel you’ve maxed out your mental capacity when it comes to dealing with your problems, it may be time to seek therapy. Frequent tearfulness, feelings of hopelessness, questions about your existence or loss of desire to participate in previously enjoyed activities can all be signs of depression.
Marquita can help…but only if you take the first step by reaching out. She looks forward to helping you on your life journey!
The investment for a 50 minute clinical (talk therapy) session is $200 and includes Accelerated Resolution Therapy sessions (up to 75 minutes) for established clients as needed. Marquita is not contracted with insurance providers, however, an insurance ready statement (Superbill) can be provided for clients interested in applying the cost of services towards their annual deductible or getting reimbursed through their insurance carrier’s Out-of-Network benefits.
